For years, I hid behind my children in family pictures if I couldn’t hide behind the camera itself. I did that because for nearly 40 years, I struggled with my weight—and by “Struggled” I mean I watched it consistently go up despite various degrees of effort to make it go down. By 2013, it was getting hard for me to get on stage to speak because the enemy of my soul used my weight, low self-esteem, and shame to keep me captive and focused on me rather than on what God wanted to do through me and in me. Shoot, my overindulgence was giving the enemy the opportunity to destroy my influence for the Kingdom.
In 2013, I started a program that I’d heard great things about. I started on their eating plan that focused on low-glycemic carbohydrates, healthy fats, and proteins. These fuelings were delicious, nutritious, and effective! I ate every 3 hours and low and behold, I began losing weight! In fact, I lost 50 pounds in 4 ½ months*.
I believe in paying forward the gifts that have been given to me. One of those gifts impacts the habits of my heart, which is why I share Jesus with others. Another impacts the habits of health that I’ve incorporated into my lifestyle, which is why I became a certified health coach. I know that people are at their best and feel most purposeful when they’re pursuing their dreams and what they value and believe they are being called to do. Sometimes, however, we feel overwhelmed and hopeless when it comes to transforming our physical, mental, and financial well-being.
As a coach, I provide one-on-one support to people who are seeking optimal wellbeing, which is different from any other healthy lifestyle program. (Did you know that studies have shown that without support and the ability to change their habits, most people [myself included] will go back to their old habits?) As a health coach, my priority is to guide my clients toward healthy habits. I become their biggest cheerleader and source of support on their transformational journey toward health, including getting them to a healthy weight.
I LOVE meeting people at the point of their potential, exploring their dreams and motivations, and helping them see those dreams to fruition by giving them a clear plan, tools, and a path for success. And all of this is ridiculously FUN because the results people achieve are absolutely extraordinary!
