Most of my readers know that my life is on the fast track right now, so I have recruited three friends of mine who are avid readers, to review CFBA books for me and share their thoughts. This week I have a short review from a younger reader … RH is 14 and here’s what she had to say about Dark Pursuit :
This story was very interesting. I loved the plot and how the characters relied on God during tough times. The book helped me remember that no matter how horrible things may be, God will see me through.
I also liked that the grandfather finally took time and realized that family is more important than books, fame, and money.
I thought that I had the ending figured out but I was wrong! I also enjoyed how the King of Suspense is writing again! ~RH
About the Author ~
Brandilyn Collins is known for her trademark Seatbelt Suspense®. She is currently working on her 20th book. For chances to win free copies of her work, join her Fan Club on Facebook. Here’s what Brandilyn has to say about why she wrote Dark Pursuit:In John Milton’s Paradise Lost Satan’s followers, kicked out of heaven, boast about storming the gates and reclaiming their territory. Beelzebub scoffs at their boasting as merely “hatching vain empires” and suggests a different revengeful scheme: seduce mankind away from God. So Satan visits the Garden of Eden to teach humans the very thing he and his cohorts have learned to be futile-the dark pursuit of hatching their own vain empires instead of following God. He presented man with this “gift” of death, disguised as life. And man fell for it.
About the Book ~
Dark Pursuit-A twisting story of murder, betrayal, and eternal choicesNovelist Darell Brooke lived for his title as King of Suspense-until an auto accident left him unable to concentrate. Two years later, reclusive and bitter, he wants one thing: to plot a new novel and regain his reputation.
Kaitlan Sering, his twenty-two-year-old granddaughter, once lived for drugs. After she stole from Darell, he cut her off. Now she’s rebuilding her life. But in Kaitlan’s town two women have been murdered, and she’s about to discover a third. She’s even more shocked to realize the culprit-her boyfriend, Craig, the police chief’s son.
Desperate, Kaitlan flees to her estranged grandfather. For over forty years, Darell Brooke has lived suspense. Surely he’ll devise a plan to trap the cunning Craig.
But can Darell’s muddled mind do it? And-if he tries-with what motivation? For Kaitlan’s plight may be the stunning answer to the elusive plot he seeks…

Dear Vicki,
It was a joy to log back onto your website and to read your wonderful, enthusiastic perspectives again! I took a break (since the last time I commented) to fill a couple of shoes at our tiny church here in Oklahoma — the women are so anxious to serve, but they needed someone to lead (Choir Director, Women’s Ministry chairman, Christmas program director, Christmas Tea instigator — did I mention that I was related to Laurie?!) 🙂
God made it clear that His goal was not for me to “do it all,” but to do it all “for a little while” — long enough to pass on the leadership duties (eventually) to those who have come forward to “help,” but do not yet recognize their spiritual gifts — a fun “job,” seeing the Holy Spirit at work in their lives and mine! I’ve put in a little effort (well, OK, a LOT of effort!) but it’s been SO worth it to see these women catch the “Holy Enthusiasm!” 🙂 All it takes is a willing heart and some time.
With ChristmasTIME soon upon us, I’m grateful for the gift of TIME (in between things) to reflect on the True meaning of this season — God’s gift of Love, JESUS — God’s GREATEST gift. What a joy to share that with others!
One comment for your young book reviewer — I haven’t read the book yet, but you made me want to! GOOD WRITING! I like surprise endings, too — that’s pretty much how God works in my life. Just when I think I have it all figured out, He surprises me with a totally different ending! He is the “author and perfector of our faith” — keep reading (His Word, especially) and keep writing! Good job!
Merry Christmas to the Tiede’s and all — may your heart be warmed and may your joy be increased! Celebrate JESUS!
Love, your friend,
Kim
