This morning a dear friend sent me a YouTube clip that reminded me how precious are our dreams. As a child, I had so many dreams of what life might be like when I grew up. I remember sitting on top of the corncob pile with my friend, Marlae, and planning my family-t0-be, career-to-be, and home-to-be. Can I just tell you that most days I am overwhelmed by all that God has done in my life and I find myself saying, “I never dreamed …”
Our dreams come from the Dream Giver. Some are small, but many of us have big dreams. I love a song called “Dream Big” by the Martins. Here are the lyrics:
I believe that anything is possible
if we understand who Jesus is
I believe there’s nothing that can
stop us
if we learn to dream like Jesus did
So don’t limit your ambition
to what’s commonly defined
God has a special heart
for those who walk outside the line
Don’t be afraid to spread your wings
and fly
It doesn’t hurt to try
If you’re gonna dream…
Dream big
It’s the Lord’s desire for you to
Dream big
In everything you say and do
You’ll see your greatest dream
come true
‘Cause all of Heaven is dreaming big
for you
I believe that we can make a
difference
If we fall down on our knees
and pray
Long ago just twelve men turned this
world around
And we can do the same today
So let your imagination run as far as
you can see
And dream along with God of every-
thing that you can be
Don’t be afraid to spread your wings
and fly
It doesn’t hurt to try
If your gonna dream…
Oh, I love the word impossible
’cause that’s what God does best
So just reach for the improbable
and He will do the rest
If you’re gonna dream…
Dream big
What dreams have you tucked away for a rainy day? Oh, girl, don’t put gifts from the Dream Giver on the top shelf, behind the coffee can. If He gave you the dream — I’m telling you — He is trustworthy and will be faithful as you make preparations, endure obstacles, and persevere in your faith.
I want you to take 7 minutes to watch this YouTube video. Please … don’t make plans to do it later. Stop what you are doing and watch it right now. But get a tissue first. You will see a woman who has a dream, has endured, and has faith. More than that, you will be reminded that the Dream Giver puts dreams in unlikely packages. You’ll be blessed.
(pause to watch)
Done? How many times have you blown your nose?
Remember that when we take our dreams off the top shelf and choose to embrace the word “impossible,” you won’t be alone.
Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
your healing shall spring forth speedily,
and your righteousness shall go before you;
the glory fot he Lord shall be your rear gurad.
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
you shall cry, and He will say, “Here I am.”
Isaiah 58: 8-9
Dream Big, my friends!
